Julia Evans compartía el otro día una lista de paletas de colores preparadas para CSS, así como otras herramientas para generarlas.

Creo entrada para futura referencia, y aprovecho a añadir otras tantas paletas que tengo por ahí guardadas y que me gustan y alguna vez he usado aunque sea como temas para programar:

Colecciones

He pensando, que como parte de tener un “jardín digital”, merece la pena incluir también colecciones de cosas.

Tengo más opiniones sobre esto, pero creo que sigue siendo interesante para mí tener esto guardado aquí.

Así que además de la página de Libros (que cambiaré en algún momento a algo mejor), he añadido Palabras y cambiado la de países visitados por Lugares, que también quiero cambiar para que no sea simplemente una lista de países y mapas, pero algo más.

Por favor, poned molduras en las ventanas

Hay algo que me trae de cabeza, y es lo asépticos (gracias a Nacho por recordarme esta palabra) que son los edificios que se construyen ahora. Sea para oficinas, como viviendas, como residencias.

Se hace todo sin gracia ni carácter.

No sé, pon una puta moldura en las ventanas al menos. ALGO que le dé color y vida. No digo ya que no sean blancos y grises, que por suerte en Madrid brilla el sol y hay algo de color en invierno. Aquí en Alemania es todo gris y marrón en invierno y se agradece cuando hay algo con color.

Sistema de comentarios de Mastodon

He añadido un sistema de comentarios a mi sitio generado estáticamente con Hugo.

El sistema de comentarios está basado en Mastodon. Simplemente, al final del post aparece un botón para cargar los comentarios que salgan a este post en Mastodon.

La implementación original hay que agradecérsela a Carl Schwan, aunque la idea la he sacado al ver un enlace en Hacker News describiendo un sistema parecido pero basado en BlueSky (aquí).

Sobre los lugares olvidados

El otro día, yendo con el coche por la carretera, vi una curva. No era una curva especial ni tenía nada de particular. Y me asaltó la imagen de esas curvas que a veces tienen una cruz o unas flores, marcando el recuerdo del fallecimiento de alguien en ese punto.

La idea de que haya lugares que tienen un valor importante en la vida de otras personas, y que no son más que otra curva en la carretera que te lleva a casa después de una salida de fin de semana es, en cierta forma, imponente.

Zurdal

Hoy he aprendido una palabra nueva, y quiero documentarla.

Resulta que la palabra ‘zurdal’ existe en castellano, aunque únicamente en la región palentina. Da la casualidad de que uno de los orígenes familiares que tengo es Palencia. Uno de mis bisabuelos era de allí y emigró a Andalucía a buscarse la vida como contable, tras aprender a leer y escribir por su cuenta.

Volviendo al tema, ‘zurdal’¹ es sinónimo de azor, un ave rapaz de tamaño medio, con el pecho blanco moteado de negro, especialmente si hablamos del azor común ² ³.

Sobre este otoño

Este otoño ha sido un otoño muy movido. Muchas visitas, muchos viajes, muchos reencuentros. Es (o ha sido), además, el primero en esta nueva ciudad.

En general, los otoños me resultan bastante menos tranquilos de lo que me gustaría. Muchos de ellos han supuesto el inicio de algo. El caso más reciente es que en otoño de 2022, me mudé a Alemania.

Quizás la sensación venga de que otoño es el inicio del curso escolar en España, y toda mi vida ha estado asociado a un nuevo curso. La universidad empieza en septiembre también, así que de nuevo andamos con la misma asociación.

On the way back, we played a game: try to see how many countries we spotted in the license plates of the cars around us in the autobahn.

Blaugust 2025 and blog plans

Well, I found out about Blaugust 2 weeks ago via one of the blogs I follow (which one, I cannot remember), I wanted to join, and then… I did not.

But it is never late to post something and join, even if it is just for one post.

So, I thought I would talk about my future plans for this site.

I want to add different styles, like at localghost.dev (I love the vibe, and I am secretly jealous of the amazing name, check it out).

I have replaced the link to the RSS feed to the one wrapped by subscribeopenly.net.

SubscribeOpenly is a service maintained by James that makes RSS more easy to use: it allows to choose your news/RSS of choice directly and offers ways to learn what RSS is directly (like this fantastic explanation).

Anyway, this is just a small thing to add to make things easier online.

PS: Please do check out James’ blog, he builds very interesting things and posts good writings.

A la sombra de un tejo, tomo un descanso en la bajada desde el picu Pienzu. Ellos se deciden por una roca a la solana.

Hace mucho que no subíamos hasta aquí arriba. Las vistas siguen siendo tan impresionantes como siempre. Hoy, el tiempo acompaña.

Desde luego, debería haber traído más agua.

Lo que se oyen son cigarras y cencerros. Además, el rumor del viento cuando sopla. Prestando atención, el canto de algún pájaro.

Zettelkasten

Zettelkasten is a note-taking method to generate ideas down the line.

When taking a note about something, you can add tags and references to other notes.

They always need to contain a reference and should always be self-contained. Not just a reference to something else.

These are principles:

Atomic: just one single idea
Autonomous: self-contained
Always linked
Link needs to be explained
Idea must be expressed in own words
Keep references to originals
Add own thoughts
No worrying about structure
Add connection notes
Add outline notes, for themes
Never delete
Add notes without worrying

No todos los días uno se muda a otra ciudad, a otra región.

While navigating Mastodon, I came up with this post from Manuel Leduc (bridged from BlueSky).

It was linking to a post he made with the most relevant talks at FOSDEM in the topic of Sustainability (a word whose meaning is being more stretched and streched thanks to greenwashing). In any case, I would the compilation quite insightful and it picked my interest to maybe attend the next FOSDEM if it happens during a good time for me. Definitely go check it out.

On starting a blog

So today I publish the first entry on this site. It is still very barebones and I will try to keep it updated whenever I feel like I should. I do not promise anything, fellow non-reader.

I have already added /now and /uses pages, as well as a very quick overview of the projects I have participated in that have results in the open during my studies and my professional life. Hopefully I can add there soon stuff done during my free time that is worth a shout.

I like this trend and it is one of the reasons I decided to start this site.

I am currently trying to get myself less dependant of centralized services. For example, I am moving my digital accounts to my personal email using my own domain, away from Gmail. Same with contacts and calendars. I am using Fastmail and it is fantastic.

At the same time, I am trying to figure out what to do with my pictures (currently backed in Google Photos) and music. I am a user of Spotify, but I still keep lots of GBs of old files.
